Divorcing a Narcissist: Helping Each Other Through this Experience

Once in a while I receive messages from people that I find incredibly helpful.  Today was one of those days- I received two incredibly helpful tips that I want to share with you.  I love this blog (and the Facebook page) because there are so many of us bonded together- helping hands.  I hope that at least one of these items can help you on your path as they have helped me.1.Contact your local law school-- here is why:Tina - hope everything is going well with you. As always I read your blog daily for inspiration and strength for the battles. I wanted to share some information with you about some great news I got today. I have been on mission for the past few months and I may be close to getting help. I reached out to the local University of Arizona Law School; they have a Domestic Violence Law Clinic that consist of law students and several well know local lawyers. I applied for their program which provides DV women pro bono legal advice and will help in filing any legal documents. They called last week and I did an over the phone interview with one of the students. They said it might take up to a month to get back with me because they have to do checks and get police reports before deciding.Well, they called today...a week later and said they would accept my case. They said they were appalled by the actions of the judges that have ruled in my divorce and in DV court. We are meeting next week to come up with the game plan. But the first thing they want to do is file for an order of protection for my daughters. I won't file for it, they will. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude to you for showing a path to me that I didn't think was possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I will keep you updated and as always prayers to our children.  Click here for the link:Arizona Law School2. California has a program called, "Safe at Home" and this was the information that I've needed to hide my home address.  Luckily since we don't have to be out of our former home until mid-October, I have some time before I need to legally notify my X.  I spoke to an intake counselor today and with the help of my counselor, declarations from his (X's) other victims and past police reports, I am a candidate!  Please check to see if a similar program is offered in your individual state.  Here is the information that I received from someone on "our" Facebook page:Hi! So I am still catching up on your blog so if you have already mentioned this sorry. Sept 7 entry about undisclosed addresses, some can apply for Safe At Home through Secretary of States office (California). I am a dv survivor and currently enrolled. I went to my local women's abuse organization called WEAVE and enrolled. It depends on the history but its available. Please check it out.  Click here for the link.###One Mom's Battle: Our mission at One Mom’s Battle is to increase awareness of Cluster B personality disorders (Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Antisocial Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder) and their impact upon shared parenting and the Family Court System which includes Judges, CPS workers, Guardian ad Litems (GAL), Parenting Coordinators (PC), Custody Evaluators, therapists and attorneys. Education on Cluster B disorders will allow these professionals to truly act in the best interest of the children.History of One Mom's Battle: In 2009, One Mom’s Battle began with one mother, (Tina Swithin), navigating the choppy waters of a high-conflict divorce in the Family Court System. Since then, it has turned into a grassroots movement reaching the far corners of the Earth. Tina's battle spanned from 2009 - 2014 during which time she acted as her own attorney. Ultimately, Tina was successful in protecting her daughters and her family has enjoyed complete peace since October 2014 when a Family Court commissioner called her ex-husband a "sociopath" and revoked his parenting time in a final custody order.Tina Swithin: Divorcing a narcissist? Tina Swithin's books are available online at Amazon (print, Kindle or audio format).
